The round diamond cut was conceived in the 1600s by the Venetian cutter Vincenzo Peruzzi and modified in 1916 by Marcel Tolkowski. The brilliant round cut is, among the various types, the most classic and widespread. It is composed of 57 facets: 33 in the upper part (table and crown) and 24 in the pavilion; furthermore, there is a so-called 58th facet at the end of the pavilion, which constitutes the meeting point of all the others.
