Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, Robert Louis Stevenson yearned for two things: freedom and the pleasure of plunging into another world. He wrote essays and travel stories, as well as his legendary adventure tales populated by extraordinary characters, whose names sent shivers down the spines of readers worldwide: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Hyde.
The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson is dedicated to this exceptionally creative storyteller. Many decorative details of this edition are inspired by the novel "Treasure Island". The overall shape of the writing instrument, together with the rings on the cone, recreates the effect of a historical telescopic spyglass. The barrel, made of precious black resin, is adorned with engraved crosses, including a larger "X" similar to the one used to mark the location of treasure on a map. The cap of the Writers Edition is decorated with vertical lines reminiscent of the planks of the schooner "Hispaniola" and a traditional treasure chest. Behind the platinum-coated clip, the lines converge to create a compass rose, while the clip replicates the shape of a cleat, to which the ship's shrouds are fastened. The top of the cap is crowned by the Montblanc emblem, decorated with the pirate symbol - a skull and crossbones - elevated in the center. The cap ring is adorned with Stevenson's engraved signature and the publication date of his first work, "The Pentland Rising", in 1866. Robert Louis Stevenson's birth and death years (1850-1894) are engraved on the cap.
